Maria Lombard

Maria D. Lombard, PhD, is assistant professor in residence at Northwestern University in Qatar. Her research interests focus on organizational communication, particularly within high-risk industrial environments and multilingual workplaces. Lombard has also served as a consultant for government, corporate, and educational organizations in the US and abroad.

She has been involved in several projects related to the oil and gas industry in the Middle East, and her work on the global call center business was the focus of her doctoral dissertation and her continued research in India and the Philippines.

She received her PhD in rhetoric and composition from Purdue University, and her master’s and bachelor’s degrees were in English from the University of South Alabama.

Before joining Northwestern University in Qatar, Lombard was an assistant professor at Qatar University.
