About

Marie Newkirk manages the career service program where she supports students in their career development. Her role includes activities such as professional development, career assessments, internship and job searches, the annual career fair, relationship building with external organizations, graduate school applications, and alumni services.

Prior to joining NU-Q, Newkirk served as an educational consultant to Qatar’s Supreme Education Council via the Educational Queensland International, where she wrote training programs for adults and management training curricula. She also previously worked for New York City’s Board of Education.

She is certified as a career development facilitator and as an MBTI® practitioner; she also earned a certificate in career coaching from the National Career Development Association (NCDA) and is presently earning a certification as a global career development facilitator. Newkirk earned a BS from SUNY-Stony Brook and an MS from City University of New York. She is a member of the National Career Development Association, NAFSA: Association for International Educators, NASPA: Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, and the National Association of Colleges and Employers.
