About
Anne Sobel, MFA, is a lecturer in residence in the communication program at Northwestern University in Qatar, where she teaches cinematography and directing. In 2005, Sobel received a Center for Interdisciplinary Research in the Arts Grant for her musical, Seduction in C-Sharp, which screened at several national festivals and was distributed on Canadian television. Her next production, Rocket to Danger, received the Garry Marshall Media Award and was screened at Boston International Film Festival, Athens International and Miami Short Film Festival. It was also a part of the How We Roll exhibit at the California African American Museum.

Recently, she received a Gulf Development Grant for her film, Shway Shway, Shoo Shoo. Sobel has written and directed music videos that were distributed on albums and the Internet via Essay Records, Planet-X Records and Mint Records, respectively. Anne Sobel’s writing has appeared in The Huffington Post, The Chronicle of Higher Education and Jezebel.
