About
Whitney is associate dean for academic affairs. Prior to joining NU-Q, he was professor of communication studies and associate dean for academic affairs at Northwestern's School of Communication. He joined the faculty in 2010 from the University of California, Riverside, where he was chair of the Department of Creative Writing and a professor of media and cultural studies. He holds a PhD in mass communication from the University of Minnesota and a BA in English from Clemson University. His research focuses on the sociology and social history of mass communicators.
