Best Buddies

The mission of Best Buddies Qatar Organization aims to enhance the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships for volunteers currently enrolled in the Best Buddies Qatar Friendship program.

Bibliophiles *

This club aims to enlighten the NU-Q and EC communities about literature trends relevant to our various cultures and foster our own creative work on their blog. The club publishes an online newsletter every semester containing the club’s activities for the semester.

Culture Club

The mission and purpose of the Culture Club is to bring the Northwestern, Education City and Qatari communities closer. This goal will be accomplished by focusing on the similarities between the different cultures through movie-making and other art.

The Daily Q

The Daily Q is Northwestern University in Qatar’s online newspaper. NU-Q students report on various stories of interest about NU-Q, Education City and Doha.

Debate Club

NU-Q Debate Club is aimed towards training students to become avid debtors and public speakers via various debating platforms. Additionally, it will help participants be active members in their society by developing leadership and critical thinking skills through debate.

International Student Association (ISA)

ISA promotes interaction among students from different cultural and religious backgrounds and serves as a platform for campus-wide dialogue on global issues, cultural diversity, and international student rights and interests at Northwestern University.  ISA also assists new international students in their transition to their new surroundings in Qatar. Membership is open to all NUQ students and Alumni.

Music Society *

The mission and purpose of The Music Society is to support a community of musicians, singers, and artists who desire to share and enhance music making and who strive for continuous learning and education in the classroom and community.

Not Another Film Club

Not Another Film Club screens films that are significant to the art of filmmaking. The society builds a sense of community through shared appreciation of the aesthetic value of the visual arts while also taking part in debates and conversations before, after, and during meetings and screenings. The society also takes part in local, national and international film festivals and conferences.

NU-Q Student Union (NUQSU)

Northwestern University in Qatar Student Union (NUQSU) is an advocate for the NU-Q student body, and acts as a liaison between students and the administration and the faculty. NUQSU provides communication between campus organizations and the student body. NUQSU offers opportunities for leadership development, involvement, and personal growth within the NU-Q community.

Purple Project

The Purple Project strives to educate the Doha community about social, economic and cultural diversity issues facing Qatar, with a specific focus on poverty, racial tension, and people with disabilities. The Purple Project also aims to strengthen ties between students, faculty, and staff.

Society of Professional Journalist (SPJ)

SPJ is dedicated to the perpetuation of a free press. It is the role of journalists to provide this information in an accurate, comprehensive, timely and understandable manner. It is the mission of the SPJ:

  • To stimulate high standards and ethical behavior in the practice of journalism

Studio 20Q

Studio 20Q is a student run organization at Northwestern University in Qatar that aims to create a thriving film culture, provide opportunities for students to experience filmmaking outside of production classes, and support upcoming filmmakers. Studio 20Q achieves that by providing grants for student films, a variety of filmmaking workshops and a network of professional filmmakers in Qatar and around the world.
