NU-Q launches major redesign of flagship website

Northwestern University in Qatar has launched a full-scale redesign of its flagship website, www.qatar.northwestern.edu, the first since 2010. This marks an important step in moving the school's digital presence forward and solidifying NU-Q's visual identity.

In 2013, NU-Q completed a brand identity project with global design firm Pentagram, which served as a jumping off point for the website's interface design. For the site relaunch project, NU-Q web content manager Jan-Marie Petersen worked closely with designers, developers and strategists at mStoner, an award-winning agency specializing in digital solutions for higher education institutions.

Optimized for various screen sizes

The new NU-Q website site design is responsive, meaning the layout flexes to fit the size of the browser window. This design tactic optimizes the viewing and navigating experience across many different devices: desktop displays, laptops, tablets and smartphones.

New and improved content

In addition to a visual makeover, the site received a major information redesign to accommodate a growing body of content. As an important communication hub with global reach, the site features comprehensive information about NU-Q’s academic programs, admissions, research initiatives, campus environment, news, publications and events.

One priority was to create a dedicated section for Arabic content. Audiences can now quickly access key information in Arabic about NU-Q, its education and admissions at www.qatar.northwestern.edu/ar
