Immunizations
Immunization and Tuberculosis Screening Requirement
The state of Qatar and NU-Q require all students to submit documentation of vaccination or immunity from polio, diphtheria, tetanus, hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, meningitis, test negative for HIV and documentation of a tuberculosis (TB) skin test, within the last year using the Immunization and Tuberculosis Screening Certificate. This is to be submitted to the NU-Q Counseling & Wellness Office on or before the first day of the second week of class for the fall semester.
To ensure residency, Qatar Foundation recommends that international students coming to Qatar to attend NU-Q, take the above tests before coming to Doha. Nevertheless, Qatar Foundation, in coordination with NU-Q, will arrange for these medical tests after students arrive in Doha. Failure to comply with the above requirement will result in a student record hold due to noncompliance to immunization and tuberculosis screening policy.
In Qatar, vaccines, blood work and record verification can be done for free at Hamad Medical Corporation Vaccination Unit at the Mesaimeer Health Center (map, phone: 4406-4251) or for a fee at private hospitals, laboratories or clinics.
You may submit your documentation to the Health and Wellness Office located in Room 3088 in the NU-Q Student Affairs suite, or you may submit it via email as an attachment to patricia.collins@northwestern.edu. Please be aware that email is not completely secure.
